Breaking: An Insider Reveal Bears Target Packers 26 years Defensive back as Eddie Jackson’s Replacement ….

The Chicago Bears are on the lookout for a replacement for their longtime safety Eddie Jackson, who they recently parted ways with. One potential target is a Green Bay Packers defensive back, Darnell Savage, who is set to become a free agent in March.

Savage, a former first-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft, has been a consistent starter for the Packers, starting 69 games and recording nine interceptions in his five seasons with the team. Despite missing seven games last year due to a calf injury, Savage has shown strong play on the field, with similar ball skills to Jackson and a better ability to play the run and make tackles.

According to Pro Football Focus, Savage was the 15th-best safety out of 95 qualifying players at the position last season, showcasing his talent and reliability. While there are other elite safeties like Budda Baker and Antoine Winfield Jr. available in free agency, their high salary demands may make them less feasible options for the Bears, who also need to address other positions like defensive tackle, edge rusher, and wide receiver.

Jaquan Brisker is expected to step up as a leader in the Bears’ secondary following Jackson’s departure. Brisker, a second-year player, has started 30 games and has a solid track record, making him a promising candidate to fill the void left by Jackson. With nearly $70 million in cap space, the Bears have some flexibility to make moves in free agency, but they will need to prioritize their spending to address multiple positions of need.
