Breaking : Two Juvenile Suspects Charged in Kansas City Super Bowl Rally Shooting…

Two teenagers have been charged as juveniles in connection with a shooting that occurred near a Super Bowl victory rally for the Kansas City Chiefs, killing one person and injuring 22 others. The suspects, both teens, were arrested shortly after the incident and are facing charges of firearms violations and resisting arrest. They are currently held at a juvenile detention center.

The charges were filed on Thursday, and further family court proceedings related to the case will be closed to the public under Missouri law. It is expected that additional charges will be brought as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues.

Jackson County prosecutor Jean Peters Baker stated that her office is working closely with family court authorities overseeing the case. Once the juveniles are charged, the county prosecutors will initiate a process to charge them as adults, which could take days or weeks.

The shooting occurred during a dispute among a group of people as the Chiefs’ rally was ending. Several firearms were recovered from the scene. The rally and parade, celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, drew over a million fans. Gunshots sent attendees scrambling for cover, and two fans tackled and detained one of the suspects.

The victims’ ages ranged from 8 to 47, with Lisa Lopez-Galvan, 43, a local radio personality, being the only fatality. Taylor Swift, whose boyfriend is a Chiefs player, donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe page for Lopez-Galvan’s family. Children’s Mercy Hospital treated nine children with gunshot wounds, all expected to recover, along with two other children and an adult with non-gunshot injuries.

Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves stated that there is no apparent connection to extremism or terrorism, and they are investigating if anyone else was involved. Mayor Quinton Lucas expressed gratitude to prosecutors and police, acknowledging that more investigation and charges may follow as they seek justice for all affected.
