New Update: Angels GM Perry Minasian Open to Further Moves as Team Begins Spring Training…

The Los Angeles Angels have begun spring training with a new look, marked by significant changes over the offseason. The absence of superstar Shohei Ohtani, who excelled as both a designated hitter and in the starting rotation, leaves two noticeable gaps in the team’s lineup. Manager Ron Washington and his coaching staff face a challenging task, especially since general manager Perry Minasian focused on bolstering the team’s bullpen during the offseason, with few upgrades to the position-player side, apart from the addition of veteran outfielder Aaron Hicks.

Minasian indicated to Dodgers Nation’s Noah Camras that the team remains open to further moves if they align with their goals. He emphasized the ownership’s commitment to winning, suggesting they are willing to make moves to improve the team. However, despite the availability of free agents, including those reportedly considered by superstar Mike Trout, the Angels have yet to make any significant new signings.

One possible reason for this could be owner Arte Moreno’s cautious approach, given past criticisms of overpaying for aging stars. Moreno may be hesitant to repeat this pattern with the remaining free agents. As a result, the Angels may be evaluating their options carefully, weighing the need to strengthen their roster against the potential cost of acquiring new talent.

As the season approaches, the Angels must decide whether to address their remaining roster needs internally or to pursue additional talent from the free-agent market. Their approach will likely depend on finding the right balance between improving their team and managing their budget effectively.
