The Indiana Pacers kicked off their four-game home stand and the final third of the season with an impressive 129-115 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
The Pacers came out firing on all cylinders in the first quarter, shooting a scorching 68% from the field and hitting 7 of 12 three-point attempts. Tyrese Haliburton led the charge with an electrifying performance, scoring 11 points and dishing out 5 assists in the opening frame. Indiana ended the quarter with a commanding 42-25 lead.
In the second quarter, Indiana continued to dominate, outscoring Detroit 30-18. Haliburton showcased his skills once again, throwing down a pair of dunks to extend the Pacers’ lead to 31 points. T.J. McConnell also made an impact, hitting two crucial three-pointers to help Indiana secure a 72-43 lead at halftime.
The third quarter saw the Pistons mount a comeback, scoring 45 points to cut Indiana’s lead to 14. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren led the charge for Detroit, combining for 21 points in the quarter. However, the Pacers managed to maintain a double-digit lead, thanks in part to Evan Fournier’s late three-pointer.
In the final quarter, Indiana’s struggles continued as Detroit threatened to make it a single-digit game. However, Haliburton and Myles Turner stepped up, ensuring the Pacers maintained their lead. Haliburton finished the game with 25 points and 13 assists, while Pascal Siakam added 20 points and 4 rebounds.
Overall, it was a dominant performance by the Pacers, with Haliburton, Siakam, McConnell, Bennedict Mathurin, and Turner all making significant contributions. For Detroit, Cunningham led the way with 30 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds, while Duren recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
The win extends Haliburton’s double-double streak to four games and improves the Pacers’ record to 32-25 for the season. Indiana will look to continue their winning ways in their next game against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday afternoon.
