The Minnesota Twins are completing their first full week of Spring Training in Fort Myers, Florida, culminating in a scrimmage against the University of Minnesota baseball team at Hammond Stadium on Friday night.
John Anderson, in his 43rd and final season with the Gophers, is retiring as Minnesota’s winningest coach.
Before the scrimmage, FOX 9 Sports Director Jim Rich interviewed several Twins players, including Willi Castro, Kyle Farmer, Jose Miranda, Steven Okert, and Matt Wallner, in the clubhouse. Rich also hosted a FOX 9 Twins Spring Training Show from Hammond Stadium, where he spoke with Twins Daily’s John Bonnes about the upcoming season, the team’s health, and expectations for 2024. Dustin Morse, the Twins’ vice president of communications and content, also appeared on the show to discuss the excitement surrounding Spring Training and the upcoming season, as well as his role with the team and media coverage plans.
The Twins will spend a total of 46 days in Fort Myers before heading north with their initial roster to open the 2024 regular season against the Kansas City Royals on March 28.
