The Toronto Maple Leafs are gearing up for the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, with trade rumors swirling around numerous players. General Manager Brad Treliving, in his first deadline with the team, is looking to address the team’s roster weaknesses.
Treliving has openly acknowledged the team’s desire to improve their defense, stating on the Real Kyper & Bourne show in December, “Would we like to improve the defense? Absolutely. It all comes at a cost.” He emphasized that they have been looking to bolster their defense since the start of the season.
While Treliving is eager to make moves, he is also cautious about not overpaying just for the sake of change. Despite their efforts, the Leafs missed out on acquiring Nikita Zadorov, a left-shot defenseman, who was traded to the Vancouver Canucks.
The team is actively pursuing both defensive and offensive upgrades, with several names linked to potential trades. However, the likelihood of these deals materializing remains uncertain.
As the trade deadline approaches, all eyes are on the Toronto Maple Leafs to see how they will address their roster needs and whether Treliving will make a significant impact in his first deadline with the team.
