Breaking: Giants target Franchise UNC QB Draft Stock Plummets as CBS Mock Draft….

In the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Giants, holding the sixth overall pick, initially seemed out of reach for the top quarterback prospects. However, recent developments suggest a shift in the landscape, with one promising prospect experiencing a notable decline in his draft stock.

Drake Maye, the quarterback from UNC, once touted as a potential top pick, has seen his prospects dwindle in recent evaluations. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com hinted at this shift during a discussion with Daniel Jeremiah on the Move the Sticks podcast, suggesting that Maye might be the one to experience a fall in this year’s draft.

Previously projected to go as high as fifth overall to the Atlanta Falcons via a trade, Maye’s anticipated trajectory has shifted. Consequently, the Giants, who were once considering a trade-up to secure him, now find themselves in a position to potentially snag him with their current sixth pick.

In a recent mock draft by Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports, the once far-fetched notion of Maye slipping to the sixth spot became a plausible scenario. Despite having Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor on the roster, Trapasso argued that the Giants shouldn’t overlook the opportunity to acquire a talent like Maye, given his imposing physical attributes and promising performance on the field.

While Jones is expected to remain with the team in 2024, Taylor’s future is uncertain as he heads into free agency. Nevertheless, the presence of Taylor shouldn’t deter the Giants from considering a franchise quarterback if the opportunity arises.

Maye possesses the ideal build for a quarterback at 6-foot-4, 229 pounds, and has showcased his skills with impressive passing yards and touchdown statistics, along with notable rushing contributions in recent seasons. Despite a slight dip in performance in the previous season compared to his stellar 2022 campaign, Maye’s combination of arm strength and mobility makes him a highly sought-after prospect in this year’s draft class.

Should Maye indeed fall to the sixth pick, it would represent a surprising turn of events, but one that could hold significant promise for the Giants’ future at the quarterback position. Drafting Maye could potentially solidify their quarterback situation for the foreseeable future.
