Fans threw trash at players during a heated NBA game between the Miami Heat and the New Orleans Pelicans, escalating tensions on the court. The conflict primarily involved Jimmy Butler and Naji Marshall, with another dispute arising between Thomas Bryant and Jose Alvarado after the initial confrontation was diffused by officials.
Security ejected a fan wearing a Pelicans jersey for allegedly throwing objects at Alvarado and Bryant, while another fan in a Heat jersey was also removed from the arena. Footage from the event captured several objects being tossed near the court.
The NBA intends to review the incident to determine if any players should face disciplinary actions. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra attributed the altercation to the intense competition between the teams, noting that everyone’s intentions were initially good but things got out of hand due to the competitive nature of the players.
The Heat and Pelicans are set to face each other again on March 22. Butler expressed confidence in his team, stating they would win the rematch and emphasizing their unity and readiness for any challenge. He praised the Heat’s performance, stating that they are playing exceptionally well and are prepared to face any opponent.
